Dr. Christine H.B. Grant Field

The University of Iowa field hockey team may have a new field, but its name is still the same. The 2005 Hawkeyes are the first to play on the state-of-the-art field and facility named in honor of former University of Iowa Women's Athletics Director, Dr. Christine H.B. Grant. Iowa’s new Grant Field is located directly west of the Iowa Athletic Hall of Fame located on Mormon Trek Avenue in Iowa City.

The Hawkeyes hope that this facility will intimidate opposing squads as much as the old Grant Field did. Since the original Grant Field was introduced in 1989, most opposing teams usually left Iowa City unhappy. Iowa stands 103-21 in the facility and is 11-2 in NCAA games played at the original Grant Field.

Originally named the Hawkeye Field Hockey Field, the facility was renamed Grant Field on September 22, 1991, to honor Grant. The Hawkeyes set a home attendance record October 24, 1993 with 1,339 fans watching Iowa defeat No. 4 Penn State, 4-0.

Iowa has gone undefeated on its home field in six separate seasons, including a 40-game home winning streak.
