The Iowa Hawkeyes and Live Radio

The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics partners with Learfield Communications, Inc., of Jefferson City, MO, on live radio coverage of football, men's basketball, women's basketball regular season and special pre- and post-season events via the Hawkeye Radio Network.

The broadcast team for football includes Gary Dolphin, former University of Iowa and NFL standout Ed Podolak doing analysis and Rob Brooks –- the son of legendary Iowa broadcaster Bob Brooks – handling sideline responsibilities and the network’s halftime interview with Kirk Ferentz. Gary Dolphin teams with former UI and NBA standout Bobby Hansen on broadcasts of men's basketball. Brent Balbinot and Shelley Till are the broadcast team heard on broadcasts of women's basketball.

The Hawkeye Radio Network is also the source for the Hawk Talk with Kirk Ferentz and Hawk Talk with Steve Alford, the weekly call-in radio shows of Iowa's head football coach and Iowa's head men's basketball coach. This series of broadcasts originates from Carlos O'Kelly's Mexican Café on Gilbert Street in Iowa City and are hosted by Gary Dolphin.

Learfield Communications, Inc., calls upon the expertise of KXIC AM 800 in Iowa City to produce and distribute the weekly Hawk Talk with Lisa Bluder call-in show. This series of broadcasts originates for Bob’s Your Uncle in Iowa City.

Live Events - All other varsity sports
The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics pursues opportunities for local, regional and national television coverage of regular season events for all sports other than football, men's basketball and women's basketball, and works with the Big Ten Conference when pursuing live television coverage of regular season events featuring Big Ten Conference football, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that are not selected for television by one of the television partners of the Big Ten Conference.

Examples of this procedure are the annual television broadcasts of Iowa wrestling by Iowa Public Television and Iowa women's basketball by KCRG-TV9.

The University of Iowa Department of Intercollegiate Athletics produces and distributes Iowa Football with Kirk Ferentz and Iowa Basketball with Steve Alford, the weekly television shows of Iowa's head football and head men's basketball coaches.
